Activities at NSI

At NSI, Mohan brings in his field research and conservation education skills and has contributed to:

Monitoring frugivorous birds and mammals and fruiting patterns in the Rajaji-Dehradun landscape
Training rural youth in bird identification to promote eco-tourism in collaboration with Uttarakhand Forest Department

Experience

Mohan Joshi helped research woodpecker communities in sal forests.
Mohan has carried out extensive transect surveys and monitored frugivores and seed dispersal with the Centre for Ecological Sciences (Indian Institute of Science).
Mohan has also surveyed elephants in the Shiwalik Elephant Reserve.
Mohan is part of the core group that set up Youth for Living Planet, a youth group that has helped raise awareness about conservation issues in rural Uttarakhand.
Mohan is a trained mountaineer and adventure guide.
