Taukeer Alam Field Coordinator
Activities at NSI
Taukeer Alam's main interest is in bird-watching, field ecology, and in raising awareness about nature conservation among rural youth. At NSI he has contributed to:

  • Monitoring frugivorous birds and mammals and fruiting patterns in the Rajaji-Dehradun landscape
  • Engaging with rural schoolchildren to promote awareness about nature.
  • Conducting field research on ecological impacts of garbage.

Experience
  • Taukeer is monitoring hornbill foraging and nesting, and working with rural youth to raise awareness about hornbill conservation.
  • Taukeer has carried out extensive transect surveys and monitored frugivores and seed dispersal with the Centre for Ecological Sciences (Indian Institute of Science).
  • Taukeer has also helped research avian malaria in Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, India.
  • Taukeer has initiated education programs in villages adjoining Rajaji National Park.
